House & Home — Murdoku Cases

Ordinary rooms, extraordinary circumstances — the domestic cases where everyone had a reason to be there.

The House & Home Setting

The largest drawer in the casebook, and the one most people start in. A living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, bedrooms, a study, a hallway, and the awkward in-between places a house accumulates: the garage, the basement, the attic, the laundry. Nobody is out of place in a home, which is precisely the problem — a suspect in the kitchen at midnight has an explanation ready.

Solving a House & Home Case

Domestic floor plans tend to be many small rooms rather than a few large ones, so room clues cut hard and early. That makes this the friendliest theme to learn in, and also the one where the hard cases sting most: with rooms this tight, a single occupancy clue can eliminate half the board, so the difficult cases withhold exactly that clue.

Rooms You Will Search

A case picks its floor plan from this theme’s room pool, so the same places recur across the drawer and you learn to read them: Living Room, Kitchen, Bathroom, Bedroom, Kids' Room, Game Room, Study, Guest Room, Hallway, Dining Room, Balcony, Garage, Basement, Attic, Laundry Room. No single case uses all of them — the generator and the hand-built cases alike take a subset, which is why two cases in the same setting can still feel unalike.

What This Drawer Holds

44 cases — 2 tutorial, 12 easy, 15 medium, 15 hard, on boards from 4×4 to 9×9. Every one is verified to have a single solution reachable by forward deduction alone, so none of them needs a guess.
